The Library does not have access to Rosetta Stone, but does have access to an alternative software, Transparent Language Online (formerly Byki). Transparent Language Online has learning modules for dozens of languages, including English for speakers of Arabic, Chinese, French, Korean, Russian, Thai, and many more. This resource can be used while you are on campus, or from off-campus by connecting to the VPN.

The first time you use Transparent Language Online, you will need to sign up for an account; however, you can use any email address (you are not required to use your Kent State email address). Your account is used to access the learning modules and keep track of your progress.

In order to access Transparent Language Online while not on campus, you must connect to the VPN before in order to use these resources. If you have never used the Kent State VPN before, visit the Connect from Off-Campus page for instructions on how to install and connect to the VPN.

Other resources and tools for students of foreign languages are listed at Modern and Classical Languages Databases guide and the International Students guide.
